Dish Name: Upma
Brief Description: Upma is popular and easy breakfast from south india, It cooked with roasted sooji. It’s very simple and hardly takes 10-15 minutes to cook. Upma is like by all ages. It is a good source of Protein, carbs and is low in fat and calorie content. Adding some veggies to the upma not only makes it tastier but also healthier.
List of Ingredients:
1 cup roasted sooji, 3 cup water, 3 spoon oil, 1 spoon Mustard seeds, Few Curry leaves, Chopped Veggies(1 Onion, 1 Potato,1 small Capsicum, 1 tomato, 1 Green chilli), ½ spoon red chilli powder, ½ tsp turmeric powder, Salt as taste.
Cooking time – 10-15 Minutes
Step by step preparation:
1. Take a Big kadhai heat oil and add Mustard seeds and Curry leaves, Now Saute till the mustard seeds splutter.
2. Add onion and saute well, then add chopped green chilli.
3. After turning onion colour into pinkish add Chopped potato.
4. Now, take 3 cups of water and keep on boiling.
5. Now put capsicum in upma kadhai.
6. Further add turmeric powder and salt as taste, Mix well.
7. Add chopped tomato in it and after it sprinkle red chilli powder.
8. Now add boiled water in it and keeping the flame on low start adding roasted sooji, continuously it helps to prevent from any lumps formation.
9. Now Mix continuously till the sooji absorbs water.
Enjoy Delicious hot upma serve with curd.
