Dish Name: Puranpoli
Brief Description: Puranpoli is a popular Maharashtrian recipe made during festive season. It is a flatbread stuffed with sweet lentil filling served piping hot with a dallop of ghee. In Marathi, the sweet filling is called puran and the bread as poli. A traditional sweet that can be made easily.
List of Ingredients:
1. Wheat flour for dough
2. Chana Daal
3. Jaggery
4. Cardamom crushed
5. Nutmeg (jayfaal) powder
6. Ghee
Step by step preparation:
1. Wash the chana daal and soak it in water for few hours. Add it in pressure cooker for cooking. (I made it prior because it takes time)
2. After the daal is cooked properly, drain water from it. Then mix it with jiggery and cook for some time until it gets dry. Grind it in mixer for soft mixture.
3. Make dough of wheat flour.
4. Add nutmeg powder, cardamom powder in daal and mix well.
5. Roll the dough ball into circle also make a ball of the daal and keep it in dough centre. Bring ends together.
6. Dust and roll to make big poli.
7. On an iron pan transfer the puranpoli and cook from both sides until brown spots appear on it.
