We, under the aegis of Antardrishti – a non-profit organization, work for the empowerment of the visually impaired. In October 2019 we organised a first-of-its-kind, national event “Golden Eye Chef 2019“, which showcased the culinary talents of cooks with visual impairment.
The event was a great success, but its reach was limited. We believe that promoting unique events such as this one, and raising awareness about the fact that blind people can also be excellent chefs alongside those who can see, will not only make a big difference to the lives of visually impaired people but also change the mindset of society as a whole, towards the blind. In continuation with our mission “cooking beyond seeing”, we have endeavoured to organise another contest (Mega Creative Contest), in order to explore creative communication tools that could help bring greater awareness among society about the abilities of blind people.
We realized that the amount of reach that we’re aiming for, can only be achieved by engaging with diverse forms of media and communication; and who could be better communicators than film makers, journalists, radio presenters and artists? And what would be a better provocation than a contest?!
We therefore invite film-makers, artists, journalists, radio presenters across India to participate in this Mega Creative Contest, to promote “Cooking Beyond Seeing“, the culinary talents of the blind. All you have to do, is make a short feature about the event, based on already existing videos taken at the event.
